Isn't it weird how some days when you're sick you have to force yourself to choke back some soup and other days you seem insatiable? On Tuesday I swear I must have eaten 3,000 calories and probably could have kept going-no problem. Yesterday, I had a little soup (couldn't even finish a bowl), one waffle with pb and apple butter, a few swedish fish, a few soy cheese pizza bites (I refuse to eat dairy with this amount of congestion!), a couple handfuls of all bran crackers, stuff like that. It's nice that the body regulates itself, but it's pretty annoying! I feel H-U-G-E and gross! And now I've noticed during the day I'm not too hungry, but at night I seem to want to make up for it. Must. Control. Self.
I don't have the energy to do the whole pic thing, but here's what I ate today....I really need to track it, especially if this sickness is gonna stick around a few more days. Blah.
-2 small whole wheat wraps (the 50 calorie, high fiber ones) with turkey, spinach, and mustard
-bowl of organic grapes (1 cup, I'd guess?)
-glass of recharge (it's like gatorade, but without the artificial stuff)
-glass of simply orange juice mixed with water (more water than oj)
I also had 3 sour mamba candies (kinda like starbursts) and 2 jelly beans. Random.
-6 inch buffalo chicken subway on wheat with lettuce, tomato, green peppers, and light ranch
-small bag of chili cheese fritos
-more grapes (1/2 cup?)
-orangina mixed with oj (I wish I didn't like orangina since it's just sugar-water basically, but I had a craving and it was on sale. I was shocked to find out it had no vitamins in it tho, you'd think it'd at least have some vitamin c, grr)
-water mixed with emergen-c light packet
I'm kind of obsessed with Subway all of a sudden. I've had it every day since I've been back except yesterday.
I keep feeling hungry again off-and-on and I only ate like an hour ago, but I'm trying to hold off. I do have another half of the sub (I did the $5 foot long thing, but refuse to let myself eat the whole thing at once). I may have an apple and peanut butter or side salad or something later. Neeeed lots of vitamins and enzymes! Although, now another waffle with pb and apple butter sounds good lol. Maybe topped with apple slices. Hmm. OK, I need to stop thinking about food. I don't need to eat yet. It's all in my head....must repeat...:-P
It sucks too when I'm sick I want to eat sugar, sugar, and more sugar. I know sugar is an inflammatory and bad for the immune system, blah blah, but it's energyyyyy :-P.
OK, I can't think anymore, my head is tooooo clogged. Neeed tea.
'Nite, loves.
*sniffle*

Burts Bees sample giveaway
Sorry guys, I know I owe you a "real" entry soon. I just got back from my vaca this Monday and I developed a nasty sinus infection, so I can only compose very short thoughts at a time lol.
I thought for now I'd share this info with you all real quick before I hop back in bed to cuddle with my dogs :).
I'm a member of Bzzagent.com. Basically, I just answer periodic, super-short surveys and occasionally they will invite me to join campaigns where they use word-of-mouth marketing to get new/improved products out there. They send their agents free samples/full sized products to use (and give away). It's really easy. If you wanna learn more about becoming a member yourself I can give you more info, but for now...
Awhile ago they gave me a bunch of free samples of the new Burts Bees (one of my fave companies) natural acne solutions spot treatment. I'll be honest, I don't have a lot of acne issues *knock on wood*, so I haven't had the opportunity to try this myself yet, but I trust Burts Bees, so I imagine it's good. If you wanna try for yourself just e-mail me @ manolomandi@aol.com and send me your name and address and I can hook you up with a sample or two so you can decide for yourself. OR you can go to www.burtsbees.com/acne and order a free sample straight from them.

September 17 + 22-23
I know the dates below are skipping around, but these are the days I ate at home. Still working on my "vaca" post, but didn't want to get even further behind!
September 17
11:00am
-yoplait light yogurt (not as good as they used to be. prob not buying again)
-fiber one mocha bar
-water

12:15pm-ish
-grapes
-water
(my mom ate about 1/2, maybe 3/4)
1:15pm-ish
-half a tuna wrap
-water

3:20pm
-hazelnut rice crackers
-1.5 tbsp hummus
-large iced tea
-water

My Mom doesn't bring her own lunch to work, so she asked me to keep her company while she picked up a sandwich. My cousin (the one who had the baby)'s b-day was Sept 9 and she invited us over that nite, so we stopped while we were out to get her a gift. Of course we had to pick something up for ourselves too :). My Mom offered to buy mine =-o. Very generous of her! I got the gold and silver ring, 'cause I thought it matched nicely w/ my diamond grad one. Whatcha think?

Yeah, yeah, yeah I'm a sparkle whore!
On the way to my cousin's we were supposed to pick up dinner, but my Mom insisted she knew where she was going, even after I told her I was 100% sure I was right. Surprise, surprise...I was right. And there were no others places for us to stop on the way, ugh. My cousin and her bf insisted it was fine, so after visiting and holding the baby for an hour my Mom and I decided on Olive Garden.
7:30pm
-chicken gnocchi soup (errr about 1.5 bowls)
-cappellini pomodoro (about 1/2?)
-prossecco
-water

9:00pm-ish
-red velvet cupcake (good!)
-2 bites of strawberry cupcake(frosting too sweet, cake good)
-diet root beer (disgusting. eff splenda)

September 22
12:30pm
-piece of "real" beef jerky
-annie's honey bunnies
(my dog was sad she couldn't have some, I think she thought it was a pig ear dog treat LOL)
1:00pm
-part of a kashi go lean meal (mostly just ate the plantain part)
-water

I just don't seem to be a fan of Kashi frozen meals. Boo. I searched for this one for over a year and lemme tell ya...not really worth the wait. *shrug*
6:30pm-ish
-fiber one caramel bar
7:45pmish
-bite of coconut fudge
8:00pm
-small bowl of spaghetti (barilla plus) with extra lean turkey meat sauce
-side salad (mixed herbs, tomato, crispy tortilla strips, ranch)
-organic red wine
-water

9:15pm-ish
-chocolate whole grain trader joe's cereal
10:00pm-ish
-another small bowl of spaghetti
10:20pm
-about 1/4 of a giant pecan divinity

I'm so off track it's not even funny....
September 23
2:00pm
-faux chicken parm sandwich
-thomas kemper sugar cane root beer
-chocolate coconut fudge

I ate this instead of making one of my Kashi pizzas. It ended up being about the same calories anyway, oops. Oink oink. And to think I'm concsciously trying to cut back on sugar. Only, as you can tell, this time I threw that out the window. AGAIN. Oy.
6:15pm
snack plate (all the ones I've seen on blogspot lately had me jealous, so I had to whip one up of my own!):
-organic nectarine (not v. good)
-organic strawberries (delish)
-spinach artichoke spread (excellent)
-fancy goat cheese flavored w/ some stuff (olives, tomatoes, etc. i think) (really good)
-a lil white cheddar
-a little sourdough bread
-a little french baugette
-2 small dolmas
-glass of organic red wine
-water
LOL that looks like a huge list

My Mom and I had a lil "fight" (not really, just something stressful..long, private story) right before she went to the store. It wasn't a big deal, but I guess she felt bad, because she came back with a smorgashboard of food. All I requested was a sourdough baugette and some herb goat cheese, but she came back w/ those + a french baugette, fancy spinach dip, white cheddar, dolmas, and a cute apron for me with cherries all over. She also got some almond crusted tilapia for me to heat up for dinner. I already overindulged on my snack plate, but a little later I'm thinking I'll heat that up and throw it over some mixed greens with tomatoes and ranch. Yum.
After catching up on my blogs (and some new ones) I'm really determined to eat cleaner/better. Not necessarily low-fat or low-cal (although I still want to watch my cals), but I want to eat REAL food. Instead of fiber one bars maybe I'll make my own or eat larabars or something, I need to get back on the oats train, start snacking on fruits and veggies, eating more (super satisfying) nut butters again, more salads, lean proteins, and "cleaner" desserts (and less of them). I always say that food tastes better AND makes you feel and look better, so why do we all stray so often? And I need need need NEED to start moving more.
This is a rant for another time, but I went to the regular grocery store yesterday (i.e. not a whole foods or anything) and it ALWAYS leaves me in a bad mood. They don't sell FOOD they sell chemicals and preservatives. UGH.
9:50pm
-side salad (mixed greens, tomato, and cucumber--all organic, topped with natural ranch & southwestern tortilla crisps)
-water

10:10pm
-small piece of almond-crusted tilapia
-sauteed patty pan squash
-water

10:30pm
-a bit more of the pecan divinity
-water
September 17

Back Home....For A Lil While
I spent the weekend in some small town an hour south of Houston. Reconfirmed that I am so NOT a small town girl (not that I ever had any doubts), but it was OK to get away for the weekend. My brother's girlfriend goes to college there, which is why we went. Food was a disaster, sort of. Mostly on the day we drove the 6 hours there and back. I will update with pics and stories soon. Then, next Monday I'm off for a week to Salt Lake City and Montana. Will try to update as much as possible while there, but no promises.
