Pants on the Ground

July 13

Workout:

-5 min treadmill jogging (warm up)
-about 30 min weights? Didn't keep track. Arms & legs.
-about 10 min stretching
-5 min treadmill walking (cool down)

I did hammer squats on this machine for the first time. I thought they were going to be miserable, but um, can you say obsessed? I was so sore RIGHT AWAY, even before I finished my third (and even second, really) set, but I LOVED them! Feel the buuurn, baby. It was great. Looking forward to doing those again. I just love arms & legs day, what can I say?

-chocolate cherry protein shake (chocolate protein powder, almond milk, 10 frozen cherries, a little bit of hemp seeds, a little ice)

It's so weird: Every time I make a protein shake and taste it I think it's so gross, but if I leave it alone to melt a little it becomes delish. I still prefer banana as my fruit/sweetener, but we were out. Cherries are pretty good in protein shakes, just not my faaave. I also meant to have a nectarine on the side, but forgot.

-grande soy latte

-half of a salmon/feta/roasted red pepper pinwheel
-half of a corn on the cob
-fruit (cherries/organic strawberries/blueberries/raspberries)
-broccoli with hummus

I ate this at diff times over the course of the whole afternoon.

-sample of organic merlot @ Central Market

-single serve bowl of chicken "pho"

Central Market had this single-serving portion. I wouldn't call it real pho. It was OK, but a little too bland. I added hot sauce and a dash of soy. It needed jalapenos (and more bean sprouts and more basil). They gave a random red chili and green chili pepper, but all the pho I've ever had used sliced jalapeno. *shrug* I really wish it came with shrimp or even beef (in general, but also because the chicken was dry), but alas. There wasn't much meat anyway, so it doesn't matter much. I almost got this shrimp in peanut sauce noodle dish, but it had dyes/chemicals like yellow 5 in it. Ugh, why? So unnecessary. No thank you. At least the faux-Pho had pretty clean ingredients. It was also comforting, but still light. Just what I needed. It was one of those meals where you feel sick and tired and you know you need to eat, but nothing in particular sounds good. I just knew I didn't want to cook, lol.

-egg roll with honey flavored goat cheese, extra honey, and a few white chocolate chips and a few dark chocolate chips
-a cut up nectarine
-a few cut up organic strawberries

-herba tussin tea with honey & lemon

I haven't weighed myself in a few days or maybe even a week *gasp*, but at last glance I weighed the same if not more than I have lately. HOWEVER, my fave pair of pj pants are literally falling off of me to the point where I almost can't wear them anymore, even tied. Hopefully that means I'm building muscle or at least changing my shape or something (for the better, ha). :-P. We'll seeee...my normal jeans have been loose for awhile, but they're stretchy, so that doesn't necessarily say much.

Random Pics of the Day:

Wanna see one reason I'm lovin' pencil skirts? They make me feel rather large on the whole but...

They give me a booooty :-P. Oh yeah. Haha.
got that pendant at a craft show, thought it was pretty cool
Flowerssss. The bouqet I got was so big it filled up 2 of my fave vases. Gotta love it. Two-toned flowers are my faves. Preferably tulips, but these work too!

Death to Ragweed

July 12

-2 egg whites on ezekiel tortilla with the last of the goat feta crumbles, pesto, greek olive hummus, and broccoli
-grapes
-the last 3 small sliced strawberries
-herba tussin tea with local honey & lemon juice
-water

I woke up with a bad sore throat & sinus drainage. I think that means our good buddy (read: ENEMY) ragweed is out. Excuse me while I curl up and die for the next month or so. K, Thanks.

The ONE time I got allergy tested they didn't get enough of a sample to test for ragweed. I can ASSURE them, ragweed is the ONE thing I truly am verrrrry allergic to (I came back as a tiny tiny tiny bit allergic to egg whites & mold, but nothing else). It would have been nice to have confirmation of that, because I want a reason, on paper, why I feel like this about twice a year. NOT. COOL. DUDES.

-cup of smores flavored coffee

-cherries
-broccoli with pine nut hummus
-ezekiel tortilla with pizza sauce, goat cheese, oregano, & basil

-venti vanilla rooibos hot tea (for my poor throat)

No one should have to feel crappy enough in the middle of Summer humidity to need hot beverages 24-7. It's just cruel. (OK, but still delicious)

-salmon/feta/roasted red pepper pinwheel
-2 bites of flounder cooked in (vegan) butter & lemon juice
-half of a corn on the cob
-brown rice
-side salad (organic mixed greens, organic baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, cut up sweet baby peppers, broccoli, mushrooms, light ranch, black pepper)
-the rest of the tea

I. LOVE. THOSE. PINWHEELS. SO. SO. MUCH. The salad was extra good too.

I love eating like this in general. Everything is so delicious, but so natural and good for me. Yay. That's the way it should always be, huh?

-small nectarine
-super delicious mini vosges bar in Woolloomooloo (salted macadamia nuts, indonesian coconut, hemp seeds, and deep milk chocolate. mmmmm).
-bowl of fruit (organic strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries)

Organic strawberries are about, oh, 10,000 times tastier than nonorganic.

Random Pics of the Day:

Hey, it's probably just the angle, but for once my arms (well, arm) don't (doesn't...) look ginormo :-P

Bella Sandwich! :)

She positioned herself in between 2 pillows to go back to sleep, so the light wouldn't bother her eye, LOL she's so smart.

Hummustard

July 9

-2 egg whites in an ezekiel tortilla with pesto, hummus, & thyme/basil/red pepper goat cheese
-5 sliced strawberries
-Starbucks iced coffee via

Really good and kept me full for a good amount of time. Not sure why this has more staying power than my other egg & fruit breakfast, but...

The hummus was a last second addition. Maybe that helped push it over the satiety/fullness mark?

-cherries
-side salad (organic mixed greens, organic baby carrots, organic grape tomatoes, garlic gold nuggets, hummustard dressing made with spin/artichoke hummus/chinese mustard/splash of water)
-organic lentils with greek seasoning
-water

I realized I forgot to add salad dressing on my way out the door (I typically pack my lunch the nite before, but add the dressing the next morning, so it doesn't get all soggy and gross). Never fear, I used Janetha's method. Sorta. We didn't have mustard-mustard, but I found one lone chinese mustard packet in the work fridge, in the midst of 1,000 duck sauces (um, why? no one uses them) and a few soy sauces. Figured it couldn't hurt to try, so I mixed that with hummus & a drizzle of water. I thought it would be not so good, but it worked! It wasn't my fave, but as a replacement I liked it just fine. Crisis averted ;). I'm a mustard (aka mustard-mustard, LOL) whore, so I bet I could really find deliciousness with the "correct" recipe :-P. The idea of watering down hummus kinda seemed gross, but as long as it tastes good...

-nut delight Kind bar (so gross. the only Kind bar I've ever hated. Usually I'm obsessed, but this was NOT delightful)

-chips & salsa
-pomegranate mojito
-black bean & jack cheese nachos with sour cream & guac
-ahi tuna salad with avocado
-1 corn tortilla
-blueberry mojito

I didn't order the nachos, but I sure did eat half. Ack. Also, I'm kind of over mojitos. They were OK, but not my fave like they used to be. Too sweet, maybe? I could still probably get down with a club soda, rum, mint, fresh fruit combo. The price was nice, though. Both of my drinks still cost $1 less than one of my Mom's margaritas, lol. I used to be OBSESSED with their "suicide margarita" (they layered a little bit of each marg: lime, strawberry, prickly pear, and mango). SO good. I didn't see it on the menu this time, oddly. Good thing my heart wasn't set on it like it usually is.

-tall decaf soy latte
-dutch caramel wafers

Went to see Please Give at the Angelika Dallas theatre. It was really good. I convinced my Mom we should go, because I just knew it was her kind of movie. I was right.

I snuck in (part of) my latte + dessert. Shh. When we were buying the movie tickets I was holding the latte. The cashier told me I'd have to finish it before going past the ticket tear-er guy. Thanks for the warning, bud (not that he meant it as such, heh). I then put my latte in my Starbucks bag (I bought my Mom a to-go cup, phew for that bag haha) and I was all good. ;). Hey, I needed a little coffee to go with my dessert, gosh!

-handful of peanut butter bumpers cereal
-1 bite of dark chocolate graham cracker

Had to check it out, c'mon. And lemme say, not bad, not bad at all.

55 Degrees

July 7

Workout:

-5 min treadmill (3 min warm up, 2 min cool down)
-about half an hour or so of weights/machines (arms & legs)

Starbucks is pretty much right next door to my gym. You think I'd take advantage of that every morning, but unfortch, usually I'm already in a hurry. Today included, but I still refused to leave without my crack. Er. Espresso.

-grande iced americano with a splash of soy
-1 egg over medium on a slice of yf/gf brown rice toast with a little low-fat flax seed vegenaise & garlic gold nuggets & a slice of cheese
-handful of cherries + the last handful of blueberries

So it's pretty clear this breakfast, for whatever reason (it has all the right components! and I even added coffee this time!), is not holding me over long. It's super delicious, but for the second time, I got hungry within 2-3 hours after eating it. I held off making lunch until the 4 hour mark, so it's not terrible, but it sucks being hungry and feeling like you shouldn't eat because you kinda just did, ya know?

-half of a Kashi spinach & mushroom pizza (aka 1.5 servings of my fave frozen pizza ever) + a dollop of pesto I put on each slice
-organic baby carrots & hummus
-side salad (organic mixed greens, organic grape tomatoes, organic olive oil, organic balsamic)
-2 raw macaroons (one cocoa, one blondie)
-water

I can eat that entire pizza. Easily. Although there are worse things (it's only 750 cals total and has good nutritionals), I decided to load myself up with healthy sides.

Perfection.

-side of fruit salad
-medium iced tea

I really wanted another Starbucks, but I later realized, today of all days, they forgot to give me my after 2 $2 drink receipt this morning. Boo. Based on principal I didn't want to pay full price LOL. Oh well.

-Chobani blueberry greek yogurt

-plain shaved ice

Love the texture, hate the artificially flavored corn syrup nonsense. It works.

Tried out a (new-to-us) wine bar, 55 Degrees, right by our house for a happy hour of sorts (it was a little too late for normal happy hour, but who cares!). Very cute and cozy and a local artist my mom loves has his artwork displayed (for sale) all over the walls. We will definitely be back. I did think they skimped a little on the fruit additions, but it was still all delish.

-glass of sparkling wine
-shared a fruit/cheese/olive/cracker tray

-dover sole w/ a kalamata olive spread, goat cheese crumbles, and organic grape tomatoes
-butternut squash risotto made with almond milk
-water

-2 tim tam cookies (1 caramel, 1 dark chocolate)

Workout 2:

Okay, you guys know I never count my jogging in place-ness as a "real" workout, but yesterday I used the body bugg trip mode and calculated that I burned like 250 or so calories in a good 40 or so minutes. I'd say that counts. Another sticker for the calender! lol
