Perpetual Lateness

It looks like the blogger platform has changed since I last posted regularly. It seems fancier, but so far I'm not a fan.

Anyway. I'll deal. So, I started off the day forgetting I'm a blogger again and didn't bust out the iPhone camera. I ate a Clif Mojo bar, as I ran out the front door (Ok, really in the car). Yay for perpetual lateness. Usually I think those bars are just meh, but then they had to go and invent the the coconut flavor with the chocolate chips and suddenly I'm a hoarder. Especially when they're 10 for 10. Come to mama.

Speaking of being late, that means I slept in past gym time for the millionth time. That's getting prettttttty old.

I didn't even have time to make my fave iced coffee at home, so a couple hours into the work day I brewed up some slightly expired chocolate truffle Godiva coffee with french vanilla coconut milk coffee creamer and stevia. I used to be a strictly black coffee drinker, but now I like to mix it up a little. I guess I'm still getting used to the whole appropriate ratio thing. When I make coffee at home (especially iced coffee), I just dump some unsweetened almond milk in the mug. Considering an entire cup is 35 calories I don't really worry about measuring. I kindasorta forgot that cream (albeit non-dairy cream, but creamer nonetheless) is more of a one to two tablespoon sort of thing and had to pour nearly half a mug's worth back into the container. At least I'm the only one who uses it.

In case you forgot what coffee looks like:

Why yes, that is the new John Mayer CD to the right of the coffee, thanks for noticing. No matter how big a douche he may or may not be at any given time, I can't help supporting his music. Judge away.  I listened to it once the other day on iTunes when they were previewing it for free, but today the yelling and screaming going on in one of our offices provided far too much entertainment for me to need any extra stimuli. Perhaps tomorrow will be the day I give it a fair listen.

Ever since last weekend when I started getting into cardio again I've been a bottomless pit. I don't just get hungry I get STARVING every 2 hours. Every hour and a half if I try (and fail) to slyly trick myself and eat only half of what I was going to. Y'know, since I'll be eating again soon anyway. I'm thinking this ridiculous appetite is slowly (but surely) declining, but so far I'm still pretty knee-deep in my excess consumption.

I tried to break apart my lunch into stages. First up, salad.

I know. Kinda boring. Just some organic spring greens, a few pieces of leftover bell pepper, and some "Olive Garden dressing" I picked up at Sam's Club a month or so ago. I put that in quotes because although it tastes like the real deal, it's only 80 calories. And I think it's pretty well-known that the real Olive Garden salad is not exactly health food. Hey, for 80 calories and a duplicate taste I'll take it!

After I sat down to eat I realized I wasn't even that hungry anymore, but after I ate I was suddenly famished. COME. ON. The rest of lunch followed shortly thereafter. So much for rationing.

Hey look! Proof that not all white food is unhealthy. This, my friends, was pretty darn tasty. Half a chicken breast marinated in some new delight that also came from Sam's Club. I'll have to tell you the name later (pretty sure you're gonna want it). See, sometimes the free samples do work! This was like a lemon garlicy kinda thing that you marinate in lemon juice. On the side I had mashed cauliflower (with last minute additions of leftover homemade veggie soup that included cabbage, kale, carrots, and probably something I'm forgetting). I meant to make it more of a pureed cauliflower soup, but it turned out to be more like the mashed cauliflower side dish I make all the time now. Oh well, it's still good. Especially the next day I discovered. Good, because since I thought it was going to be a soup, I made a shitton of it.

Maybe an hour or so after that my Mom came up to the office with lunch of her own and gave me half of her salt & vinegar chips. At the time it sounded like a good idea, but I immediately regretted it. Live and learn. Now, if they were kettle chips there would never be a regret.

I thought I may be able to get through the rest of the work day snack-free, but alas a couple hours later, I was still insatiable.

Usually it takes me forEVER to get through a jar of nut butter, but um now that I took this one to the office I've gone through half of it in a week-ish. I guess that's not too bad. Maybe.

As promised, for dinner the grill has already made an appearance. Turkey burgers (and one lonely steak for my brother). And also as promised they were slightly overcooked (but not burnt!). They still tasted pretty epic. Especially topped with guacamole. I buy 2-3 avocados a week now, all of varying levels of ripeness (generally one will be almost-ready, one will be green and rock hard), yet just to taunt me they always perfectly ripen all together now. RUDE. Good thing I love avocado. A lot. Anyway, we also had baked beans and leftover mashed cauliflower. I also had about half of a light beer before I got tired of it.

(on a whole wheat bun, top unpictured)

For dessert I planned on a chocolate vitamuffin, but instead I kept dipping into the mini pb cups. Good enough!

And just because, here's a bathroom outfit pic. I forgot I had this shirt, but it's prob one of my faves.

The sleeves are really cute and ruffly.

That about covers it for day one.

Shady's back....tell a friend.

Hi, remember me?

Ever since I took over running our office in mid-December (which, yes, has been my job for over 3 years, but now I  operate with minimal assistance, which was not the case before), doing the whole lifestyle blog thing in my "free time" (who really has that anymore?!) was too much of a time suck. And let's face it, my life = work and other mundane nothingness nobody really needs to repetitively read about day in and day out. I cook 30 minute or less dinners (just call me a lazy Rachael Ray), watch copious amounts of Youtube and DVRed television, and try to fit in packing a lunch for the following day if I can muster up the strength to plop leftovers into a tupperware. The hardest part is finding a container and lid that match. You know how life ruining that is. I sleep when I can (not enough--as I'm sure everyone says), get stuck in a pattern of sleeping in past most of my scheduled morning workouts (I'm working on it! As I've been saying for...months), and then do it all over again. Riveting! Hey! I'm just like you! Some bloggers may seem like superheros who can do it all, but I'm just as lazy, yet also hardworking as the rest of you bitches!

I have gotten pretty cozy with our grill, which is new for me. You'll see a lot of that, I'm sure. The first couple of times I used it, the grill gods probably cried tears of joy that someone as talented as me had finally discovered her talent of perfecting charring dead animals (too graphic?) and produce to the best of their...ability? But then humility caught up with me and now I kind of burn everything I make. Beginners luck ruins everything. It's a learning process.

Okay, now you may consider yourself officially caught up.

Almost every. single. day. I've told myself I want to blog again, but clearly that didn't come to fruition. Like, ever. Therefore, to take some of the pressure off of trying to pretend to be interesting and coming up with time I don't have, and instead of promising a detailed "here's the random shit I did today, please pretend like you care" blog, I'm going to try to ease back in with more of a food/workout diary, like how I started in the beginning. Just to put something out there. Nothing too exciting, but I do tend to find a lot of fun foodie products and go to a lot of restaurants, so maybe it will be better than nothing. I miss using my camera too. What good is a DSLR paper weight, amiright?

So, we'll see. It's a (re) start, at least! Glad to be back.

The Wedding

Oops I wrote this back in January, but wanted to add a few cell pics to it & then never ended up finishing it.

On October 1, 2011 two of my great friends got married and I was blessed to be in their wedding as a bridesmaid.

I normally am quite the picture whore, but this time I knew EVERYONE would be taking pics, so I actually took almost none. HUGE SHOCKER. I even left my cell phone in the bridal suite while they got married at a nearby park and didn't go back for it until the middle of the reception. It was rough! ;). Kinda silly too since our dresses had POCKETS (!), but alas.

Therefore, I credit 99% of these photos to the professionals, Aragon Photography of Atlanta, as well as a pic or two from facebook (I think Dana's sister's, Kelly if I'm not mistaken) that may have slipped in the mix.

Nathan and I. I had never met him before, but him and his wife were both really sweet. His poor leg was hurt and he had to use a cane most of the day, but was able to troop through and walk down the aisle like a champ! :-P

Dana and her Dad. Here we go!

Seeing his bride walking down

Awww.

Married!

Everyone together

Girls

Color pop!! LOVE. She added the rhinestone herself and it made the shoe. She's so pretty.

In the limo directly after the ceremony.

Reception.
Quick story. They called all of us in the wedding party one by one into the reception after all of the guests were seated, but Nathan and I were accidentally left out, so the whole line kept getting messed up, and I think Dan and Dana actually were announced before us, haha. If I'm not mistaken I think Nathan's wife was the one who announced or at least gave the list? And she said she got nervous and forgot to say her husband's name, of all people LOL. It was really cute/funny. We just had to scoot on by the bride and groom to get around the dance floor so they could begin their first dance! :)

TA DA.

Amazing amazing couple and friends.

Annnd now that I look at all of the cell phone pics none are really worthy of sharing at all, but since I made you wait this long, I'll add them here at the bottom just because. These are mostly random ones of my Mom and I over the course of the weekend. She'd actually never met Dan OR Dana previously, but they asked her to please come as my guest since they'd heard so much about her and really wanted her there (SO nice), so of course she obliged!

Delirious in the airport at like 5 or 6 am. Aren't we beauties? :-x Well, my Mom always is :).

Once again delirious, prob at 2 am that nite? Well, technically the next morning. I couldn't sleep! Not sure why taking creepster pics of myself was necessary, but it passed the time....sorta.

Another oh-so-lovely duck face by yours truly. Right before we walked across the street from our hotel to the mall (convenience at its finest!) to eat lunch. Sushi, yum! Well, for me. Mom's not down with that. Crazy. She had a burger, I think. Ha...how many places have sushi and burgers? It was a steakhouse/sushi hybrid kinda place, though maybe not the best idea since now that I'm remembering I did get sick after.....

Leaving for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner! It was at a great Irish restaurant. We got to meet her family (first time for me too, since they live in California) and bond. It was really nice and the food was great!

Outfit. With gold strappy wedge sandals. I don't think I look like myself in any of these. Weird.

Excited

Wedding day! During the rehearsal all the girls talked about hair options. I had a couple ideas in mind (some up, some down), but that nite only myself and another girl decided on updos, while the rest were going to go down. In the end, only I ended up with mine down!

I had my dress tailored (why did bridal stores always insist you go up a million sizes??? I wasn't even getting it tailored there, so it's not like they got extra money!) and it was STILL too big. The ironic part is the boob part was the part that was too big, yet the only reason I went up TWO to THREE sizes was to accommodate for my chest!

And it was extra WEIRD because the day before I tried it on to be sure and it fit almost perfect, then I woke up the next morning and it was HUGE. I could barely keep the top up. Not great when it's strapless!!!! So I figured keeping my hair down would help hide that...I told the hair stylist I was gonna put my hair in front of my shoudlers, so it'd help cover me up a bit. She ended up not listening to me at all and didn't do it like the picture I showed, plus it was super tight in the back and looked mullet-y pulled forward (but great in the back, as you can see above). She also did my bangs (that were way too long as you can sorta see in the rehearsal dinner outfit pic) in front straight across instead of side swept (also like in the pic). But I don't think I had any wardrobe malfunctions, so oh well. At least my makeup was perfect! I didn't even tell the makeup artist what I wanted, but she ended up doing it exactly how I was envisioning! She did all of us girls in similar, complementary colors, but that were best suited to our features. Very cool.

This was taken post-wedding in our dark hotel, so you can't tell at all. But it was a navy-ish smoky eye (my go-to for fancy events usually) and the rest pretty natural...except, you know, false lashes! They look way more exaggerated here tho. They looked pretty and natural in person.

About to leave for the wedding venue!! I had fixed my hair a lil better there, the bangs at least, but the wind ended up attacking it anyway haha.

Purdy mama

Leaving!

& we were invited to the small brunch the next morning for close friends and fam. Luckily we could make it (had to take our luggage with us LOL).

Healthy, huh? Nutella and banana (I think? nutella for sure) french toast. :-D

Phew, that was prob TMI, but my blog is mostly just for memories anyway, so it's all good.
