Shaken Not Stirred

July 6

Workout:

-29 min 10 sec elliptical

I know, random time, but we initially thought we'd only be able to get 15-20 minutes in at the gym. Why we would have even bothered for that I do not know. I was determined to get at least 25-30, so I'd so I accomplished my goal.

-protein oats (kashi creamy vanilla oatmeal, about half a scoop of sun warrior chocolate raw vegan protein powder, a little over a teaspoon of sunflower seed butter)

I'm not a big fan of that oatmeal, so I was happy it was the last packet. Still, it wasn't bad all together. A little dry, but I'm pretty conservative with the amount of water I use in instant oatmeal. I HATE watery oatmeal.

-an ezekiel tortilla I dipped in some hummus + a few leftover hazelnut thins
-a little bit of cous cous salad
-1 cocoa raw macaroon
-water

Oddly, I got hungry only a little over 2 hours after breakfast, so I dipped into lunch a couple hours early. Then, when I was planning to eat the rest for my real lunch, I wasn't hungry enough.

I did (as I ALWAYS do...) want some Starbuckies though :). My Mom was kind enough to pick me up one (+ an AWESOME new cup/bottle) when she went to get her own lunch out, so I didn't have to stop working to go get it myself.

-grande soy iced latte

I just asked for a tall, but luckily she knows me better than that, because I sucked that, well, sucker down right away. She had it put in the new bottle too. I kiiind of felt like a baby drinking it's bottle, but still loved it all the same. She also got me a box of their new instant via iced coffee. It has sugar in it, so I probably wouldn't have bought it myself (if you're a new reader, I'm a black coffee girl all the way as far as regular coffee goes), but I always appreciate a gift! Plus, I tried a sample the other day and it was pretty good, so I'll put that to good use.

-another mini container of whole foods shrimp cocktail
-water

I'm telling you, I cannot get enough of that stuff. So good.

-this Alexia brand potato/white bean/onion in a pesto-y sauce thing
-ridiculous amounts of snow crab legs
-side salad (organic mixed greens, organic local tomatoes, organic baby carrots, a lil natural ranch, garlic gold nuggets, black pepper)
-water

-approx. 1/2 cup coconut milk cookie dough ice cream (not my fave-fave of the coconut milk ice creams, but still rather delightful)

Workout 2:

Well, this part I wouldn't count as a workout even though technically it is, but I jogged in place for prob 20-30 minutes during Losing It. Only after eating my ice cream, of course. THEN, my Mom asked me to get on her treadmill to test the heart rate monitor for a second. Hers reads VERY high (160's-170s even when she just walks), but mine, I think, read low (around 99, even though I had been jogging for awhile already. I assume my real heart rate was closer to 110/120). So who knows what's up with that, if anything. I'm trying to convince her to get a heart rate monitor for a piece of mind. I'm not worried about myself, but she's anxious about it saying hers is so high when we doubt it really is. ANYWAY, even though I was in flip flops and it drives my Mom insane to see me do this, I stayed on the treadmill for 25 minutes walking.

I love seeing 2 workout stickers on my calender in one day.

Outfit of the Day:

Kind of looks wrinkled, yikes

Speaking of outfits, isn't this dog shirt so cute? I got it for my dog Buster when he was a baby, but he outgrew it years ago, so I gave it to my friend for her new puppy I've talked about. So cute.

Cookie Dough Eggroll?

July 5

-carrot cake clif bar

What I really wanted was an iced latte & oatmeal from Starbucks, but I didn't think I could get it down in time. My Mom and I were going for mani/pedi/eye brow waxes up the street and she was getting anxious about going, so I wolfed down one of my fave bars on the way.

So much for working today. I know it was a holiday for most, but our office was open. I was too tired to work out or even go in to work early with my Dad, so my Mom and I were just going to put in a brief appearance from 2-4 or so. I know it's not much, but we could have done something, at least. Only, the stupid nail place took SO LONG. I literally just soaked my feet in the water (which went from hot to cold....) for an hour before anyone came to work on me. Mani/pedis are torturous enough for me as is, but waiting too? I wanted to run away screaming of boredom before it even started, lol. We got there about 1 and didn't leave 'til about 3. So much for working. Normally we still would have gone in and just stayed later, but I had promised to go out with my friend at 4, so there was no point for me. My Mom called my Dad and he canceled this afternoon group and was left with only one patient for the day, so said she didn't really need to come in either unless she was dying to. Nope, not really ;). So we got the day off anyway. Oops.

After our nails, she picked up some lunch from this new wing place next door (well, she got grilled tenders, but whatever). I decided to order the cookie dough eggrolls, take a bite or two, and let my brother get fat off the rest LOL. Except the guy was out of egg roll wrappers. Nooo! Come on, cookie dough egg rolls, how amazeballs does that sound?! Next time, he promised. Although now I'm curious if i could health them up a little. I know, I know. But really. Think about it. I could find a healthy-ish cookie dough recipe, stuff an egg roll wrapper, and try to bake it maybe? We'll see. My friend and I used to make nutella wontons. Granted, we fried them, but nutella egg rolls and cookie dough egg rolls baked sound like heaven, kinda.

-a little cous cous salad
-a little hummus with hazelnut nut thins
-super small peach
-1 cocoa raw macaroon
-water

My friend and I were actually going to see Eclipse at the movie grill an hour after I ate that. I probably should have just waited, but I needed something, so I just picked at my scheduled lunch & saved the rest for the following afternoon.

@ the movies...

-black bean burger patty with mustard, tomato, & lettuce (no bun)
-side of fruit salad
-water

no pics from dark theatre...

Neither of us read the Twilight books or anything, but we see every movie together just because. This one, as the others, we thought was pretty good. Dare I say we're starting to look forward to them, but not enough to read the books ;).

Later after I got home...

-big bowl of protein ice cream (technically followed the famous faux frosty recipe, but my protein powder doesn't make it taste quite frosty like. will have to buy the eas brand next time)

It made wayyyyy too much and I had to put half in the freezer. I also had to transfer it from the blender to the food processor. Our blender sucks.

Andddd crap. I just realized I forgot to write down my Body Bugg stats for this day. Boo. I could probably pull them up on the computer program, but eh. Too much effort.

Outfit of the Day:

Yes, I really am that white.

Friday!!

July 2

Went into work extra early today (for me).

-Chobani peach greek yogurt (good, but not as good as the one from the other day. Hmmm)

-About 85% of a venti iced soy latte (took me all day to drink too lol)

Had my 20 minute chair massage. FINALLY my arms don't hurt really badly when I raise them. It was bizarre! The top of my shoulders are sore though. You win some, you lose some.

HUGE "lunch" (at like 3:30 pm)

-grilled chicken sandwich with no cheese on the most amazing bread ever
-side pasta salad
-side salad w/ balsamic

I've been craving that sandwich for a good 2 weeks now. The chicken part alone would only be average/so-so, but the bread. OH MY GOD, THE BREAD. And you have to remember, I'm not a huge bread person, but...THE BREAD, YOU GUYS. THE BREAD! :-P

Kind of a dangerous meal, because I almost always eat every last bite. It's weird, though. I know I'd be satisfied with only half (sometimes my Mom and I share one), but when I eat it all I'm really full, but never sickly full. It doesn't add up!

-1 vanilla cake ball (cake wasn't cooked nearly enough)

Finally saw Toy Story 3 in 3D! I didn't think it was quite as amaaaaazing as everyone claims, but I still really enjoyed it.

-sushi bento box thing that came w/ miso soup (I also ate my brother's), salad, tempura, spicy yellowtail roll, 4 piece california roll, 1 piece tuna nigiri, 1 piece white fish nigiri, 1 piece salmon nigiri
-hot green tea x 3 ish

+ 1

+2ish

Really good, but I couldn't finish it all. I took home half the yellowtail roll, half the cali roll, some tempura, and gave my Dad some salad (though my Dad and I did share my brother's salad, but the salads weren't very good, boring dressing). Ironically, even though I ordered the spicy yellowtail bento, that was probably my least fave of the sushi offerings. It was still good, but the rest was even better. I love that place and it's riiiight by my house. Need to go more! Great prices too. Can't beat that.

-green tea ice cream (took it to-go)

-the last of the caramel popcorn

Wanted to wear my crown necklace from yesterday again. It looked SO GOOD, but the clasp broke right off my neck. NOT cool!!! I got lots of compliments on the substitute necklace though (it's my moms). I'll have to remember to take a close up next time.

Sandwich Salad

July 1

Well, I didn't quite exercise as much as I hoped for June...

But better than nothing! And those double days are awesome. I also am not sure if I was even cleared to work out by my surgeon that first week. But that can't explain the end of the mostly blank very last part of the month :-P.

-1 egg over medium open faced on a slice of yf/gf brown rice bread with a tiny bit of mayo & a slice of american cheese
-raspberries/blueberries/blackberries
-water

A taste of my childhood. Although I think I only ate scrambled eggs then. Yuck. But don't worry, this was quite the opposite of yuck.

It didn't quiiite fill me up though, so I dipped into what was on my desk....

-caramel/cheddar popcorn

Didn't have time to make lunch before work, so I got...

-starbucks perfect oatmeal with dried fruit & nuts
-grande iced soy latte

Held me over longer than I expected (a good 3 hours and I could have gone another hour if necessary)

My Mom got hungry about an hour before we left the office, so she went to Great Outdoors for a sandwich and I opted for...

-house salad (lettuce, tomato, cheddar, mushroom, onion, cucumber, oil & vinegar)
-water

Kind of weird the cheddar was the slices meant for sandwiches, but then again ALL the ingredients were basically sandwich fillings thrown into a styrofoam box. It was pretty good, considering.

-gluten free tuna casserole made w/ almond milk + twice the tuna (and it still barely seemed like enough, hmm)
-side salad (organic mixed greens, local organic tomatoes, goat feta crumbles, natural ranch, snap pea crisps)

Too lazy to get water, even though I was parched :-P.

-the last tiny piece of strawberry rhubarb pie (about 1/3 the size of a regular slice)
-about 3 tbsp peach sorbet

I'm rather impressed with myself. Around 9:30 pm I was at just under 4,000 steps and on track to probably only burn around 2100-2200 cals for the day (provided I stayed sedentary). So, as I find myself doing on a regular basis lately, I jogged in place while watching tv. I did it for so long my ankles kind of hurt the last 2,000 steps or so (I was in flip flops, hence why jogging in place and not on the treadmill in the same room...). I could have said eff it, but I made sure to get my daily goals in (without also riling myself up in the process by doing any hardcore cardio where I'd be wired for hours after).

Outfit of the Day:

I'm kind of obsessed with this new necklace, but it broke the next day, UGH. I need to get that fixed asap.

No More Denton. Again.

June 29

-1 slice toasted yf/gf bread with a wedge of laughing cow light + superfruit jam
-1/2 a chobani strawberry yogurt (prob my least fave)

Back to Denton (which also means, Hannah's, natch) for the afternoon. We met my mom's friend/our sortof colleague (we try to help each other out anyway) for lunch. My Mom and I feel bad though, last time we met her we paid, so she insisted this time. Only, we didn't know she was paying and ordered half the menu. She shouldn't have had to pay for all that :(.

-1 baby artichoke
-rare, seared tuna with a littttttle rice and nori, but the rice wasn't good.
-a little mixed greens salad
-like 2 bites of carrots that weren't very good
-too many waffle fries with hannah's sauce
-iced tea

The online menu said they had an ahi tuna puttenesca. I WISH. This more Japanese-style was what was on the menu when I got there. Meh. It was OK, but not what I wanted, ya know? And the sides sucked, aside from the simple salad. Oh well.

After lunch I went with my Mom to her new pulmonologist. Well, who we thought would be. He was an hour late to see us, never made any eye contact, stayed on his laptop the entire time, didn't listen, kept forgetting things, gave contradictive information, etc. It was insane. He gave my Mom severe anxiety about everything too. Greeeeat, just what she needed. *sigh*

I've never smoked a day in my life (nor has my Mom), but we thought this was pretty interesting...

So if you smoke, quit now, it'll do your lungs good within just 20 minutes! ;)

Right after, we went to get some desserts & bought some fun jewelry on the way home to cheer ourselves up from that horrible experience. We thought about having a quick dinner & drink, but in the end neither of us was really feeling it any longer.

-random bites of stuff (almond thins, flavored popcorn, etc)

-1 artichoke/feta/lemon fritter
-side salad (organic mixed greens, local organic cherry tomatoes, goat feta crumbles, & organic italian dressing)
-1 vegan curry tofu egg roll (good!)
-water

Random combo, but suuuuper tasty.

-half of a red velvet cuppy cake

Way over priced (more than $4! That's more than Sprinkles....), but good.

Eh.

And I only got that many steps because I jogged in place for maybe 15 min or so while watching Losing It. LOL.

Outfit of the Day:

Kinda hard to see any of it, but oh well.
